Live! Casino Virginia is set to open its temporary gaming facility on January 22, following the completion of all regulatory requirements. The temporary casino spans 75,000 square feet of gaming space.
The casino license was unanimously granted to PPE Casino Resorts Petersburg LLC, paving the way for the facility’s launch. The gaming venue is strategically located near Interstate 95 and Wagner Road (Exit 48B), providing easy access for visitors.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the permanent Live! Casino Virginia took place last March. Once completed, the full-scale casino will feature over 450,000 square feet of gaming, hotel accommodations, dining options, a convention center, and a concert venue. The project is expected to create approximately 1,400 permanent jobs and generate more than $200 million in annual economic impact.
The Petersburg casino will join four other approved casinos in Virginia, located in Bristol, Danville, Norfolk, and Portsmouth. Richmond previously attempted to secure a casino, but local voters rejected the initiative twice.
The $1.4 billion project is a joint venture between The Cordish Companies and Bruce Smith Enterprise, reinforcing Virginia’s growing gaming and entertainment industry.
Under Virginia legislation passed in 2020, the Virginia Lottery is responsible for licensing and regulating casinos and sports betting throughout the Commonwealth.
