The results reflect balanced momentum across multiple verticals, with online gaming and sports wagering delivering particularly strong gains.

Record Online Gaming Performance Drives Growth

Internet casino-style gaming once again proved to be Pennsylvania’s most dynamic segment. Online casino games generated a record $249.3 million in gross revenue during January, up 18.62% year-on-year.

iGaming slots led the way with $194.8 million in revenue, a 22.81% increase compared to January 2025. Online table games also posted solid growth, climbing 6.20% to nearly $52 million.

Among operators, Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course topped the iGaming market with $96.2 million in revenue, reflecting a 20.71% annual increase. Valley Forge Casino Resort followed with $67.2 million, while Rivers Casino Philadelphia reached $40.1 million. Notably, Presque Isle Downs and Casino delivered one of the most impressive performances, with iGaming revenue soaring 178.24% year-over-year.

The iGaming vertical alone generated $113.9 million in tax revenue for the month, reinforcing its role as a cornerstone of Pennsylvania’s regulated gaming ecosystem.

Sports Betting Revenue Jumps 38.6%

Sports wagering also delivered a standout performance. Although January’s total handle of $782.4 million was 10.39% lower than the previous year, taxable revenue surged 38.63% to $71.4 million, highlighting improved operator margins and betting efficiency.

Hollywood Casino at the Meadows posted a 51.34% increase in sports wagering revenue, while Presque Isle Downs and Casino recorded an impressive 198.51% jump. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course nearly quadrupled its sports betting revenue year-over-year, climbing 394.65%.

Overall, sports wagering contributed $25.7 million in tax revenue during January.

Land-Based Gaming Shows Stability

Retail slot machine revenue totaled $189.1 million, up 0.67% year-over-year, despite a slight reduction in the number of machines in operation. Meanwhile, retail table games revenue rose 2.80% to $75.8 million.

Several properties posted notable gains in table games performance, including Wind Creek Bethlehem (+8.94%), Parx Casino (+11.14%), and Live! Casino Philadelphia (+19.02%). Hollywood Casino at the Meadows also achieved a 28.20% increase in table games revenue.

Combined, slot machines and table games generated more than $108 million in tax revenue for the month.

VGTs and Market Diversification

Video Gaming Terminals (VGTs) at qualified truck stops generated $3.19 million in adjusted revenue, up slightly from the previous year. By the end of January, 76 establishments were operating the maximum permitted five machines each, reflecting gradual expansion within the regulated framework.

While fantasy contests revenue declined year-over-year, the overall market trajectory remains strongly positive, supported by the diversified mix of retail, online, and sports betting channels.

With double-digit overall growth, record iGaming performance, and a sharp rise in sports wagering revenue, Pennsylvania enters 2026 with sustained momentum. The latest figures further solidify the state’s position as one of the most mature and high-performing regulated gaming markets in the United States.
